THE ASSOCIATION DECISION
The French Football Federation says its Executive Committee unanimously withdrew support for Gianni Infantino’s 2027 presidential candidacy at its 10 September meeting in Paris. Le Monde independently reported the decision. The FFF also called for reform developed with football’s stakeholders, including players and supporters.
SCOPE AND EARLIER FIFA POSITION
The FFF said developments since its earlier endorsement had undermined the conditions for that support. Its statement concerns the forthcoming election and does not demand immediate resignation. In an earlier statement on 8 August, FIFA defended its president’s democratic mandate and said election processes must follow its statutes. That statement preceded the French decision.
