WHAT THE LETTER SAID
A FIFA letter dated 7 September requested suspension of the Nigeria Football Federation’s electoral process until further notice while FIFA and CAF assessed the situation. Premium Times reproduced the two-page letter in its 8 September report. It announced a planned joint mission to Abuja to hear from football bodies and government representatives.
WHAT IT DID NOT DECIDE
The letter expressly left conclusions and possible next steps open. It did not announce a suspension of Nigeria from international football or establish a normalisation committee. It also said preserving the status quo did not validate any stakeholder’s decisions or interpretations. This records the letter’s position at that date; the mission’s eventual recommendations have not been verified here.
