THE ASSOCIATION DECISION
The Austrian Football Association says its supervisory board unanimously decided against supporting another Gianni Infantino candidacy. ORF places the meeting in Vienna on Friday, 11 September. The ÖFB attributed its decision to changed circumstances and concerns it considered unresolved. Those are the federation’s assessments, not findings establishing wrongdoing.
ELECTION SCOPE AND EARLIER RESPONSE
The ÖFB statement says another candidacy without naming a year. FIFA’s Congress record places the next presidential election on 18 March 2027; Deutschlandfunk also describes the Austrian decision in that context. This is no additional position on immediate resignation. FIFA’s earlier 8 August statement defended Infantino’s democratic mandate and rejected reporting it described as unsubstantiated; it predates Austria’s decision.
